Gold & Black Themed Wedding Cake

Last week, I had the pleasure of creating a wedding cake for a beautiful new bride.

The top tier was cookies and cream, the second tier was lemon and poppy seed, the third was carrot, and the bottom tier was chocolate and cherry cake.

Congratulations once again Alisia & Charles on your new chapter in life xx

First Wedding Cake

Hi everyone! I am very proud to share a photo of the very first wedding cake I have made! I made this Rustic Style Wedding Cake for the most gorgeous bride last weekend! It was a 3 Tier Red Velvet Cake w/ Cream Cheese Filling and decorated with Vanilla Buttercream.

In the the pic I took, I used pink silk flowers I had bought specifically for cakes for photos sake! However the brides mother whom I work with had organised some beautiful fresh flowers to place on the top, middle tier, and bottom of the cake.

The cake was displayed on a vintage wine barrel with candles. I just can't wait too see photos. I promise I will upload them as soon as I have access!

Have a lovely weekend,

Kim xx

Update: Here are some prof pics :)

Wedding Servings VS Party Servings

There is a lot on the internet about wedding cake servings and party cake servings.

Basically a wedding cake slice is smaller slice, sort of the size of bread folded in half or in some cases folded in a quarter. A party cake slice would be a more like a generous wedge of cake.

Here are some photos I have found from google to show examples of sizes:

Wedding Cake Slice 1, about the size of a piece of bread folder in half

Wedding Cake Slice 2, about a quater of a slice of bread

Here are some awesome cake serving guides:

NB: for the above cake serving guide you have to add up the layers together to get the total of servings.

Clear as mud? Hehe. So basically it all really starts from what cake servings slices you are after, and how many people you want to feed! If you have quiet a few guests don't worry about feeding them all, go with the quarter slices! At the end of the day I'm sure your guests will be filled with dinner and there will be other desserts there (and in some cases a lot of your guests may want to move on to the booze hehe)
